Beau Green is no stranger to entrepreneurship. Green’s family has owned hotels, restaurants, an automobile dealership, and a coal and construction company. Coming from a long line of business owners, the then-30-year-old decided to look for his first solo business venture.

With a background in account management and sales, and some small business ownership experience, Green looked at dozens of different franchise opportunities before discovering Right at Home, an in-home care franchise that specializes in providing assistance to seniors and adults with disabilities who wish to live independently. Although he briefly considered going into business for himself, he was quickly won over by Right at Home’s extensive training, tools, resources and franchise community.

Impressed with the brand’s offerings, Green met with several Right at Home franchisees and its leadership team, and knew it was the opportunity he had been searching for.

“After looking at a number of different franchises, Right at Home just had the right people,” said Green. “When I spoke with franchisees in the validation process, it was always a person I could be friends with and listen to.”

Green’s Journey Begins

Green officially opened his first franchise location in Birmingham, Alabama in 2011. Since then, he has become a multi-unit operator with more than 10 locations across Alabama and Tennessee. Over the past 12 years, Green has learned a lot throughout his experience as a franchise owner, but he acknowledges that it wasn’t without a fair share of hard work and dedication.

Working in a senior- and adult-focused franchise concept, Green said he encountered hurdles right from the start. Because of his age, people often wouldn’t take him seriously and others weren’t sure if his business was going to last. To combat this early on, Green developed strong training systems, best practices, and relationships both internally and externally to ensure he was preparing the company for long-term success

“People that I called about the business are now people that I call my dearest friends,” said Green. “We’ve been really tenacious in the business, and I’ve loved it.”

As the years passed, Green noticed a notable increase in respect for the business, particularly as he began opening new franchise locations throughout Alabama and beyond.

“We let our services speak for themselves,” said Green. He also attributes his success directly to assembling the right team and fostering effective communication.

“It’s about surrounding yourself with people who will keep you in check,” he said. “It’s not just me in this. We couldn’t have expanded without the key people that are still with us. They have been instrumental in our growth.”

Committed to the Long Term

Looking to the future, Green aims to continue using his platform to help seniors within his community live happily and independently in their own home for as long as possible.

“I am committed to this for the long term and believe, with our aging population, the needs are going to continue to increase,” he said.

For aspiring entrepreneurs aiming to carve their own path, Green believes it’s crucial to prioritize personal integrity, stay authentic and maintain steadfast consistency.

His advice: “Treat others the way you want to be treated and always do the right thing.”
