Together, they offered a behind-the-scenes look at how the experience is structured — and why it’s so effective.<h2>It All Starts With the “Why”</h2>“Discovery Day starts by pulling all of our C-suite execs and prospects into one room,” said Garcia, who hosts the event. “Each prospect shares their story — their why — and it’s their chance to make a strong first impression on Right at Home leadership.”That introduction sets the tone for a full day of discussions that span operations, marketing, financial expectations, and personal readiness. “We ask them a lot of different questions that allow them to start thinking, ‘What does a successful office look like? How do I get to that vision?’” said Brown.<h2>Meet the Team, Ask the Hard Questions</h2>Throughout the day, prospects meet with a range of team members — from the CEO and CFO to support coaches, marketing leaders, and compliance experts. “They’ll meet with&nbsp;<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/margaret-haynes/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=right-at-home-discovery-day-what-to-expect-2729405" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Margaret [Haynes]</a>, our President and CEO, who gives them the history of the brand,” Garcia said. “They also meet with our Chief Marketing Officer, our VP of People Strategy, and our business performance team. Then in the afternoon, they break out into one-on-one sessions to talk about regulations, operations, and coaching.”That depth of access is often surprising. “Most people are blown away by the amount of support and the detail we provide,” Hoskinson said. “People say it feels like drinking from a firehose — but in a good way.”<h2>Building the Business From the Ground Up</h2>Brown says that one of the most common questions from candidates is how long it will take to open the business — and when they can expect to start generating revenue. “We walk through the timeline, how those numbers are calculated, and how you, as the owner, can influence them,” she said. “We explain what it takes to hit your break-even point and what documents we provide to help you get there.”Training and onboarding are also a major focus. “RightStart managers work closely with new owners multiple times a week through Zoom calls, project check-ins, and hands-on guidance,” Brown said.Hoskinson emphasizes the brand’s long-term commitment: “Our sole purpose in franchise operations is to help our franchise owners create and grow sustainable, profitable businesses,” she said. “Because when franchise owners are successful, the whole system is stronger.”<h2>Determining Fit — On Both Sides</h2>Of course, Discovery Day isn’t just about informing candidates — it’s about evaluating them. “We’re trying to see if they truly want to live and breathe the brand,” Brown said. “Right at Home built a beautiful model. Are you willing to follow it, or are you going to go rogue?”&nbsp;“We want people to be in this because they love it,” Garcia said. “If you don’t have the drive and the passion, you’re not going to love it as much as someone who does.”Team feedback plays a key role in the final decision. “It’s a team approach,” Brown said. “There are about 15 of us involved, and we all weigh in. The franchise development team considers every perspective before making a final decision.”<h2>Moments of Clarity and Candid Conversations</h2>“There’s usually a point when everything clicks,” Garcia said. “They say, ‘I’m not the marketing person, I’ll be in the office recruiting caregivers and managing scheduling. But I know someone who would be great at outreach.’ And suddenly they can see their life in this business.”Brown agrees that these moments are crucial. “You have to be all in,” she said. “We ask, ‘Do you understand what this business costs to launch? Are you prepared to quit your job and take that leap of faith?’ The most successful owners are the ones who answer ‘yes’ without hesitation.”<h2>What Happens Next?</h2>Once Discovery Day ends, the franchise development team reviews feedback and typically reaches out by the following week. “If they’re approved, we start right away,” Hoskinson said. “They’ll get a 90-minute kickoff call, and from that point forward, they’re moving fast.”Brown, who helps onboard every new franchisee, is ready to hit the ground running. “If you’re bored before Discovery Day, don’t worry — I’ll fill your calendar,” she said. “I just had an owner say, ‘We’re trying to figure out our next step.’ I told him, ‘Sir, I have your next six months planned out for you — every waking minute.’”Discovery Day is more than a formality — it’s the gateway into a deeply personal, high-impact business. For prospective owners who are ready to commit and eager to serve, it’s a day that sets the stage for success.
