What do you want us to know?Jimmy Wong:&nbsp;I’ve spent much of my career working in corporate America, mostly in Silicon Valley with companies like eBay, Electronic Arts, PayPal, and Intuit. Over time, I realized I was ready for a new chapter — one where I could take ownership of my future and align my work more closely with my personal values. That’s what led me to explore franchising.I’ve always had an interest in business ownership, but I also wanted to do something meaningful — something I could truly be proud of. When I came across the senior care space, it really resonated with me. Like many others, I’ve been part of the “sandwich generation,” raising a young family while supporting aging parents. I’ve walked that journey myself and even hired home care for my parents, so I understand the challenges families face.Right at Home stood out to me because of its culture. It was clear they truly care — not just about the bottom line, but about the people they serve and the people they work with. That mattered to me. I wanted to build a business where compassion, service, and purpose come first. That’s what inspired me to take this leap.1851: How did you decide franchising made sense for you?Wong:&nbsp;I knew that starting a business from scratch came with a lot of risk — I read that around 20% of small businesses don’t make it past their first year, and about half won’t make it to five years. I wanted to improve my chances by leveraging a proven system. That’s what drew me to franchising. The franchise I chose has a strong track record and over 400 other successful owners across the country. I figured if that many people have built something sustainable with the same tools and support, then I could do it too.What really sealed it for me was the culture and the level of support. From day one, I felt like I wasn’t alone. There’s a clear structure, experienced people to lean on, and a shared sense of purpose. It made me feel like I was on the right track — not just building a business, but building it with the right people behind me.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Wong:&nbsp;My perception of it before was that there are some successful ones, but there are also a lot of other ones that haven't had success yet. Having gotten into it this far, my one word of advice to folks who are looking to do this is to look for one that speaks to them, but also look for one that's been around a long time that can introduce you to other owners. A big, impactful part of my decision making process was speaking with other owners in the franchise system.1851:&nbsp;What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?Wong:&nbsp;What led me to Right at Home was meeting other owners in the system and meeting with folks who represent them. It felt like it was a company that cared, and that wasn't just about the bottom line.&nbsp;1851:&nbsp;What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?&nbsp;Wong:&nbsp;In the first 12 months, I want to build a business that not only survives but begins to make a real difference in people’s lives. If we can earn the trust of our clients and community in that first year, it sets the stage for long-term growth. From there, the goal is to expand sustainably over the next three years — building momentum while staying grounded in quality care and meaningful impact.Longer term, I hope this business becomes a source of pride, purpose, and opportunity — not just for me, but for the people we serve and the team we build. I want to create something lasting that reflects my values, gives back to the community, and supports a life of flexibility and fulfillment. For me, success isn’t just about financial gain — it’s about building a future with intention and making a positive difference along the way.1851:&nbsp;Is there anything else about your story you want us to know?Wong:&nbsp;At my core, I identify most as a father and a husband. I have one daughter — her name is Jasmyn — and she’s in second grade. She’s eight years old, and being present in her life is incredibly important to me. I don’t just want to be a father in name; I want to actively show up for her every day. That’s something I’m deeply proud of and passionate about. The same goes for being a supportive partner to my wife. This business is not just a professional venture — it’s also a way for me to build a life that prioritizes the people who matter most.1851:&nbsp;What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming franchise owners?Wong:&nbsp;Do your research. I spent many, many months researching. I reached out to a franchise consultant. They introduced me to many concepts. Speak to other owners, attend meetings, whatever you can to make yourself more informed.
