He initially joined the industry to honor the impact his grandmother had on his life and has since become dedicated to offering personalized care solutions for seniors. Now, as he builds his business in Florida, he is focused on helping the local community access essential services and resources that promote independent living.1851 Franchise spoke to Turner about his franchise journey and why he is expanding his Right at Home business.&nbsp;1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us.&nbsp;What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Brian Turner:&nbsp;I started in 2007 by partnering with an existing owner who's an RN. My background is in marketing and finance. I was raised by my grandmother, so that got me excited when I learned about what in-home care was. Fast forward and I've been doing this for over 17 years.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Turner:&nbsp;I didn't really have one. I was very unfamiliar with the franchising concept at that point in my life. Now, I think it's great. I think as in-home care has become more popular, corporate offices have gotten a lot stronger and more supportive. I definitely would not do this on my own. I like the support that they provide and how they keep us abreast of what's going on from a national and even international perspective. I definitely recommend franchising to anyone who wants to get in this type of business.&nbsp;1851:&nbsp;What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?Turner: Just really good people. When I started, the corporate office wasn't as big, but they had an attitude of caring and wanting to do the right thing. Everyone that I know that looked at other brands, they say the same thing. Right at Home definitely stands out in terms of the ability to show that they care and make the effort to help you grow in your respective business.&nbsp;1851:&nbsp;What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?&nbsp;Turner:&nbsp;My goal is to provide exceptional customer service and help as many people as we can. I want to educate people on these resources that are out there and the services that we provide. Unfortunately, when people get older, they tend to forget about them. Not only do we want to provide services, but we can also connect them to other senior veteran resources that are out there.&nbsp;As far as the expansion, I've been living in Florida for the past 10 years. Prior to opening up in Florida, I served the Maryland and Virginia areas where I grew up. Now I am invested in this community, so it's important for me to build a strong brand and help as many people as I can in South Florida.&nbsp;1851:&nbsp;What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?Turner:&nbsp;I don't do anything that I'm not passionate about. I've run a lot of businesses, but this one stuck because of the nature of the business and its importance to people. I really care about what I’m doing.1851:&nbsp;What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?Turner: It's not easy. It's a lot of moving parts to this business, from the clients to caregivers — just everything that happens on the day-to-day. So I would just say, if you want to get into this type of business, there needs to be a strong sense of wanting to help people. I think that the industry has gotten more popular over the years.
