Chicago Tribune: Shout Out - John Zebell, School of Rock franchisee

Advertising consultant reignites his passion for music with the music-education franchise.

Chicago Tribune interviewed Libertyville, IL local, John Zebell, about his new career path as a School of Rock franchisee. Zebell, who currently works as an advertising consultant in the food industry, is excited to reignite his passion for music and working with children through School of Rock’s performance-based model.

While growing up I played some sloppy rock and blues in the basement with my friends. Unfortunately, we never seemed to have enough people for a full band. That's kind of why I'm doing this. I've always loved and enjoyed music but couldn't break in. Now I can have a small role," share Zebell.

However, Zebell won’t be handling the teaching. He plans to stay back-of-house and let Kevin Clark, the actor who played the drummer in the film School of Rock, and gig musician, Mike Zabrin, take on the education role. ?
