The business officially launched on September 2, with a grand opening celebration planned in about six months. For Mollie, who retired early from a career in school counseling, and Joe, a veteran and plant manager in the specialty chemicals industry, the new venture blends personal passion with a shared mission to bless the senior population.By focusing on matching active seniors with those who need support, the Robinsons are bringing a model of care that goes beyond basic services. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Mollie Robinson: I earned my master’s degree in school counseling after majoring in politics and minoring in English. At first, I thought I would manage political campaigns. I grew up in a political family, helped my dad, and really thought that’s where my career was headed. But during college, I started volunteering with kids, which eventually led me into school counseling.Like so many others, my dad is part of the large baby boomer population. These are the people who raised me, loved me and shaped who I am. That really made me ask, “What can we do to give back to that generation?” That’s when we started working with a franchise coach.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Mollie: Franchising wasn’t a completely foreign concept to me. My grandmother owned a franchise years ago — which was unusual for a woman at that time. In fact, she opened the second Merle Norman Cosmetics location in Alabama. So there was a little family history there.What has really impressed me since becoming a franchisee is how much the home office cares about us personally. What are your plans for growth?&nbsp;Mollie:&nbsp;Seniors Helping Seniors® is the perfect way to bless both my peers and also their dear parents.&nbsp; Both generations are considered seniors in this franchise.&nbsp; We’ll focus on hiring caregivers aged 50 and above who are still very active and have a servant’s heart.&nbsp; We’ll offer both part-time and full-time employment and thorough training.&nbsp; We will offer care for just a few hours a week up to 24 hours, 7 days a week — everything from light cooking to driving to handyman services, all provided by able-bodied seniors wanting to care for those less able.&nbsp; We believe so strongly in the beauty of this unique care model that we purchased a large territory in order to bring Seniors Helping Seniors® to our whole area of Alabama, including Montgomery.1851: Is there anything else about your story you want us to know?Mollie: I’ll be the face of the business and will be working full-time directing all aspects. One of my most rewarding roles as a school counselor was facilitating “Friendship Groups,” where I helped children discover all they had in common and build deeper connections. I love that Seniors Helping Seniors® does the very same thing by taking great care to match clients with caregivers who share commonalities such as personalities, hobbies and interests.Joe will be helping me on nights and weekends. As a veteran, he has a special passion for making sure other veterans are both employed fairly and receiving the care they need. He also has a strong background in mentoring, coaching and safety management, which will be a huge benefit for both our clients and our team.Joe has already said one of the most meaningful things for him will be matching a veteran in need of care with a veteran caregiver, because both people will benefit from the blessing of a shared life experience in serving our country. Before we launch this fall, we’ll be traveling back to his small hometown in upstate New York to visit his 94-year-old father who is also a veteran. Joe is looking forward to further explaining our new business to his dad, and he knows he will say, “Your mother would be so proud.”1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming franchise owners?Mollie:&nbsp;My biggest piece of advice is to work with a coach — not the franchise coach from the brand itself, but a broker. You can actually work with more than one, since they often represent different groups, and that can be really helpful. A U.S. Air Force veteran originally from Michigan, Tim brought strong operational and leadership experience from his years managing retail teams. Both trained as engineers, but once they began exploring entrepreneurship, franchising offered them a path to independence that matched their drive and teamwork."[Hiral] opened a Subway restaurant in 2002 — that was our first franchise — and then we took over a few locations after that," said Hely. "We’ve been in the franchise business for a long time. I opened the first Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchise in Maryland back in 2011. We also manage rental properties here in Maryland."&nbsp;After years of running other franchises together, they felt ready to take on a new challenge that tied their experience in business to their shared love of hospitality. Hely says that mindset comes naturally — it’s something she’s seen her whole life.“My family back home in India has a business background — my father, my brother — everyone is involved in the food industry,” said Hely. “I grew up with that mindset.
