My father-in-law mentioned he was looking to sell the business, and I jumped at the chance to learn the ropes.”In 2018, Pattat officially purchased the business, continuing a legacy his in-laws began in 2001. At the time, the company was doing around $1 million in annual revenue — a solid small business. But Pattat saw potential to scale by combining the family-run foundation with the systems, support and strategy of the broader ServiceMaster Restore franchise network.“I was drawn to the concept of owning your own business, but also having resources within the network — whether that’s other franchisees to talk to or new tools corporate is rolling out,” he said. “You can take advantage of those processes that help you grow the business and get more profitable.”<h3>Evaluating Profitability, Expanding Services</h3>Pattat took a hard look at the company’s services and began making strategic changes. “When I started, it was mainly residential cleaning and disaster work,” he said. “But we started looking at the lines of business that were truly profitable.”One major change came in 2017 when the team launched a construction division.
