Spartanburg Herald-Journal: GYMGUYZ Sets Sights on Spartanburg Expansion

The fast-growing fitness franchise thinks South Carolina has great potential for the mobile concept.

Lack of motivation - a common problem many gym goers face, but for CEO and founder of New York-based mobile fitness concept GYMGUYZ, it was something he was able to not only offer a solution for but turn into a profitable business.

Starting out as a personal trainer, Josh York recognized that his client's consistency would fluctuate based on their level of commitment. The most cited scapegoats were work and a comfortable couch. In order to combat the excuses, York decided to bring the gym to them - offering trainers that bring vans full of equipment to his client's home.

Now with more than 100 locations and room to grow, York is looking at expansion opportunities in South Carolina with a focus on Spartanburg for development.

“It’s a great market,” said founder and CEO Josh York in an interview with the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. “I love the community. Great demographics. We’re super excited about it.”

Trainers offer numerous services including weight loss, body building and body sculpting, weight training, cardio fitness, pool workouts, pre- and post-natal exercise, therapeutic and athletic stretching, kickbox training, group training and corporate fitness. Each session is tailored to the needs of the client, something that has proven valuable to the brand's growing customer base. York plans to continue this momentum and take GYMGUYZ to the top, aiming to become the largest fitness franchise.

“We’re not here to compete, we’re here to win,” York said to reporter Bob Montgomery.
