Well-known sandwich chain Subway has officially announced the retirement of its CMO Joe Tripodi and the interim appointment of acting CMO Roger Mader, according to AdAge.

According to the article, Tripodi told Marketing Week: “This was one of the most challenging jobs I’ve ever had because it was a privately held company that had lived in a little bit of isolation for many years so I had to drive some significant transformation.”

“Subway's sales fell each year from 2014 through 2017, according to external data (privately-held Subway doesn't disclose its sales),” the article said. “In September 2018, Subway's chief advertising officer gave a positive assessment of results, suggesting the chain was once again growing, but results have not been released,” according to the article.
