Subway Gives Back in a Big Way for World Sandwich Day

It may be Halloween, but Subway is more looking forward to celebrating World Sandwich Day.

In honor of the birth of sandwich inventor, John Monatgu of Sandwich in England, Subway is partnering with Feeding America on November 3, World Sandwich Day, to give back to communities, according to QSR.

In an effort to stand against hunger, Subway is doing its part to fight food insecurity this World Sandwich Day. When customers order a sandwich from Subway’s website or phone app between November 3 and November 9, Subway will help provide a meal to Feeding America. According to the Food Aid Foundation, “some 795 million pepole in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life,” which translates to one in nine people on earth.

“No one should ever struggle to find their next meal, but sadly one in nine of our neighbors do,” said Subway Manager of Community Engagement Victor Lamberti. “Subway and our franchise owners are committed to helping our neighbors in need get access to nutritious food.”

Subway isn’t the only business giving back to its communities––Starbucks recently announced its plans to invest $10 million in Chicago’s underserved neighborhoods and local businesses. Ben & Jerry’s has also been known to lend a hand to its Vermont communities and promotes environmental and social justice around the country.

Who knew contributing to a great cause tasted so good?
