<div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">Last week, the White House recognized individuals who were named as the Bright Spots in Hispanic Education and nine Rio Grande Valley programs were recognized as part of the initiative, including <a href="http://franchise.sylvanlearning.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=sylvan-learnings-susan-valverde-earns-white-house-recognition-2550" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><span class="brand-highlight">Sylvan Learning*</span></a>&#8217;s own, Susan Valverde.</span></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><span style="">Sylvan Learning Centers partnered with Code the Town in order to stress the importance of computer coding to elementary school students through education in the STEM fields. In the programs first year, Susan Valverde drew participation from more than 1,000 students.</span></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><span style="">"If we can reach them before the fourth grade we can spark their interest and increase the number of students in STEM programs," Valverde told the&nbsp;</span><em style="">Valley Morning Star</em><span style="">. "This is nice icing on the cake, but the real prize is that we have now served more than 1,000 kids.
