In the programs first year, Susan Valverde drew participation from more than 1,000 students.</span></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><span style="">"If we can reach them before the fourth grade we can spark their interest and increase the number of students in STEM programs," Valverde told the&nbsp;</span><em style="">Valley Morning Star</em><span style="">. "This is nice icing on the cake, but the real prize is that we have now served more than 1,000 kids.
