Taco Bell Announces Expanded Vegetarian Menu Without Plant-Based Meats

After talks with Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, Taco Bell chooses to forego partnering with the plant-based protein brands.

In early 2019, Taco Bell announced that it would be testing a new vegetarian menu. While many fast food restaurants like White Castle, Burger King and Del Taco have embraced plant-based meats to positive reception, Taco Bell doesn’t seem to be joining the game any time soon. Instead, Taco Bell will be promoting the vegetarian ingredients they already offer. Taco Bell is currently the only American Vegetarian Association-certified fast-food chain in the country.

Julie Felss Masino, Taco Bell’s president of North American operations said to CNBC, “we’ve met with Beyond, we’ve met with Impossible, but I think what we’re proud of is that we’ve been doing vegetarian for 57 years.”
