Taco Bell just announced its latest menu addition that has taco aficionados quivering with anticipation––the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa. According to Nation’s Restaurant News, this release is the taco joint's largest international release since 2017, when it released the Naked Chicken Chalupa.

Last week, Taco Bell left consumers disappointed when the restaurant announced its plans to eliminate nine fan favorites from the menu as part of the brand’s declutter plan. But the fast food chain may have just earned back its customers’ forgiveness with this new launch coming September 12. This isn’t your Average Joe taco shell––no, no, no! The Toasted Cheddar Chalupa’s innovative shell “features six-month aged cheddar baked onto a classic chalupa flatbread shell,” according to NRN.

“We know cheese makes everything better and baking aged cheddar into the shell of an already iconic product is a game changer our fans will love,” said Taco Bell Chief Food Innovation Officer Liz Matthews, according to NRN.

New menu items are currently selling like hotcakes at various fast food restaurants. Dunkin’s new fall-infused drinks have pumpkin spice lovers loaded with excitement. And––of course––who could forget about the infamous Popeyes Chicken Sandwiches that ran out of stock in less than a month?

Clearly, while many of a brand’s classic offerings will continue to remain on restaurants’ menus for years and years to come, everyone still loves the “new-new.”
