Tampa Bay Business Journal: Top 50 global franchise looks to grow Tampa Bay operation

Pirtek, the global leader in hydraulic hose replacement services, is embarking on an aggressive new U.S. growth plan following the recent buyback of the brand’s American operations. Pirtek CEO Glenn Duncan counts Tampa Bay among the company’s key U.S. growth areas, estimating that at least eight additional Pirtek franchises will soon open in the Tampa area.
Pirtek is already in discussions with three potential franchisees in the Tampa area, Duncan told the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
With global headquarters in Australia, Pirtek recently ranked as a Top 50 Global Franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine. The brand provides immediate response to businesses in need of repairs, and is in a unique position to capture business in a growing market like Tampa.
“We know our markets; we know the industrial market quite well,” Duncan said.
“Tampa is performing.”
Pirtek’s Tampa expansion plans closely mirror the company’s growth in Brisbane, Australia, Duncan said. Pirtek has opened nine franchise locations in that area, and now boasts nearly 100 franchises across Australia.
An additional Pirtek franchise will open in Miami in October as part of an expansion plan to open one Pirtek franchise per 500,000-person population base, Pirtek Vice President of Franchise Development Gwyn O’Kane told the Memphis Business Journal.
