Facebook Messenger may soon offer a new option for advertisers. According to a recent article in TechCrunch, the company is testing out a way for marketers to send mass-messages to users on the platform. Currently, this new development is only being tested internally.

“We often test products, features and ideas and are always exploring new ways to make it easier for businesses to deliver great experiences to their customers. Once we’ve tested them internally we make a call as to whether or not to ultimately release them. As such we don’t comment on unreleased features,” said a Facebook spokesperson. 

These targeted messages will include a welcome message, title, subtitle and call to action. The messages will be able to reach a limited audience for free. Facebook may also allow companies to pay to reach a larger demographic.
