The decision may be in part due to the popularity of WhatsApp abroad, nearly eclipsing the popularity of Facebook in some countries. Introducing Stories as an option may help increase the growth momentum of the app as well as drive daily traffic.

The integration will offer a more social aspect to WhatsApp&nbsp;and further tie together the apps owned by Facebook through a common feature. According to the article, the function&nbsp;is currently only being tested with a small user base.&nbsp;
