TechCrunch: LinkedIn Hits 500M Member Milestone for its Social Network for the Working World

The professional social network hits a new milestone at 500 million users.

After becoming a part of Microsoft in December, LinkedIn has made its latest announcement in a blog post. According to a recent TechCrunch article, the social network for the working world has surpassed 500 million registered users in 200 countries. This number is up from 467 million members reported last year in October.

Along with the 500 million member mark, the company is rolling out a new updated that will start to appear later this week. In the “My Network” tab, new information--including statistics--will be available about people in your network. You will be able to manage your new connections and pending invites in this tab as well. Statistics will include who is the most connected in your network, who you have the most mutual connections with and even historical data such as your first connection.

The new updates are in line with LinkedIn’s new strategy to present your profile in more places with more details, including third parties.
