The Champion: Entrepreneur Goes from Mover to Franchisee with the Help of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK

Jerome Jones, a co-franchise owner in Tucker and Decatur, Georgia, loves TWO MEN AND A TRUCK*® because of the relationships.

"I came to work here as a mover because I needed a job. They saw potential in me and helped me develop my potential," he said.

Jones started with the brand as a mover, and within weeks became a driver. Within another two years he was an assistant manager, and he then climbed his way up to become general manager. Now he is the co-franchise owner of two locations.

"He's a role model for our entire system," said Randy Shacka, president of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®. "He is exactly the type of person we look for in our organization. He believes in our values. He works hard and genuinely cares about people. Three out of four of our management staff have come from within. I started with the company as an intern."

The company does a lot more besides training movers to handle furniture without hurting themselves. They train movers in personal relations.

"Moving is stressful under the best circumstances," said Jones. "And sometimes it's not the best circumstances. Sometimes people move because they have to - not because they want to. We really want to satisfy everybody," he said.

Jones' business was one of three chosen nationwide for a pilot program testing a new long-distance moving system called Value Flex.
