Rafael Sanmiguel, Lewis Center resident and GYMGUYZ franchisee, is offering clients most of the opportunities of a gym and bringing them directly to their homes.

"We have a van equipped with all different types of equipment," Sanmiguel said. "We can't have a treadmill or elliptical machine, but we have weights, ropes, medicine balls, whatever the latest trend is."

Before beginning the workouts, Sanmiguel or his trainer puts a client through an assessment that measures body fat, current fitness level and past workouts, which helps determine the client's goal.

The GYMGUYZ concept began in 2008 by Josh York. The brand has now grown to 70 vehicles serving 4,000 clients.

"I had a van, a laptop and a vision," York said.

Since Sanmiguel's opening earlier this summer, the business has done so well that Sanmiguel is being joined by another franchisee, Naomi Hoyt.

Hoyt will serve clients in Dublin and Upper Arlington, including the Northwest Side starting in late-August 2016.

"There's a lot of trainers going around to people's houses," Hoyt said. "But do they have 300 pieces of top-of-the-line, professional equipment? No."
