The New York Times: With 8 Years of Job Gains, Unemployment Is Lowest Since 1969

The labor market remains tight and franchise concepts like Cousins Subs are finding proactive ways to both attract and retain top talent. In a recent New York Times article, it was reported that the unemployment rate in September reached its lowest point since 1969. As the company prepares for major expansion into the Chicago market, Wisconsin-based franchise Cousins Subs has increased training in order to help move employees into management, created referral bonuses, are holding "hiring blitzes" and are increasing the urgency with which they're bringing in new workers.
 
“You can’t sit on applications anymore, because people have options and they will go somewhere else,” Christine Specht, President and CEO of Cousins Subs, told the New York Times.
