The News-Gazette: Best in Class Education Center to Open Champaign, Illinois Location as Part of Strategic Growth Initiative

The brand aims to open franchises in areas where students are struggling in school.

Seattle-based brand Best in Class Education Center is eyeing Champaign, Illinois for development due in part to the low academic progress of students in the area.

"With the Champaign and Urbana districts, we looked at several different things but test scores were a factor," said Sharon Peterson, director of franchise sales for Best In Class Education. "We also look at the ranking of the school compared to others in the U.S. We don't want to focus on top-performing markets; we want to help children and families and we feel this would be a strong area to help children."

Best in Class has locations in 36 states and works with local schools to develop lessons that accompany the current curriculum. Members of the staff meet with teachers and PTA members before opening their franchise in order to build and maintain relationships. Although the brand is still eyeing real estate locations within Champaign, they aim to open a center by February of 2017.
