After a recent announcement from Facebook about the Buy button, a feature that allows users to purchase items through their news feeds, it seems other social media outlets are starting to follow suit. In particular, Twitter is starting to test an e-commerce extension that may be rolling out in the near future. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen it on your phone or online –it’s only in the testing faces for a small batch of Android users. Putting e-commerce on social media outlets is starting to become a huge trend, and brands should be ready for the launch. Planning ahead and doing a little research may be necessary to understand your brand’s demographics. Once demographics are pinpointed, proper products can then be offered to the right customers. E-commerce merging with social media shouldn’t scare companies; rather, brands should be moving forward with new features and receive measurable ROI on their social media investment. But before jumping in, be sure to understand that products might be different on each platform, so analyze and investigate –and adopt early.
