America’s Largest Moving Franchise Eyes California for Continued Expansion With Room to Add 30+ Territories

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is looking to bring its high-quality and reliable moving services to The Golden State, focusing on exceptional customer service and ancillary services like storage and junk removal.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, the nation’s largest franchisor in the moving industry with over 380 franchises and 3,000 trucks in operation, has seen tremendous momentum so far this year, celebrating its nine millionth move, opening 11 new locations and adding 70 new trucks onto the road in the first half of 2022. Now, the team has set its sights on the beautiful state of California for continued franchise expansion.

California is really a big market that we are excited about,” said TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Compliance Director Pam Batten. “The population there is obviously massive, and there are always a lot of people moving in and out of the state. We have several franchisees in the California area who are really thriving, but there is still plenty of opportunities to serve those customers we haven’t been able to reach yet.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK currently has 12 franchises open in California, Batten says, including one just recently opened in Pomona. The team has identified room to add 30+ new territories across the state, including in major cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Samantha Miller is the franchisee behind the recent Pomona signing. Before franchising, she worked with some of the biggest names in the retail industry, such as Target and Macy’s, leading management, operations, events and marketing teams nationwide. After the pandemic hit and Miller decided it was time for something new, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK emerged as the perfect fit. 

“When I was initially researching franchises, I spoke to 20 brands from retail to food, and after speaking with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and learning about their values and what they stood for, I was hooked,” said Miller. “I knew I could be successful with their support behind me. Growing up, my brother worked for a local moving company, and I saw how successful the owners were. By partnering with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, I didn’t have to wait to build brand recognition, but I could jump right in. I also called every franchise owner in California and many across the country and basically interviewed them to learn more about their experience with the brand. I didn’t meet anyone who didn’t love TWO MEN AND A TRUCK.”

Now, Miller says her goal is to open other TWO MEN AND A TRUCK territories in California and help establish the brand more in the state. 

“I want to create a successful business not only for myself and my family but for my community which is why I chose to franchise,” said Miller. “If I hadn’t partnered with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, I would be starting in an industry that I didn’t come from and had no experience in. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has the experience, and a successful business model developed from trial and error that will give me a head start at success.”

And Batten says that the business model has been expanding even more over the past few years, with the addition of new service offerings like junk removal and storage. “These types of services are more needed than ever in states like California,” she said. “As people move around and downsize, we have a lot of franchisees that add these services, and there is a lot of opportunity in California.”
