Backed by a nationally recognized brand, the Sullivan brothers aim to fill a gap in the local market and create new jobs, all while building something of their own. 1851 spoke with the brothers to learn more about their backgrounds, what drew them to franchising and their plans for the future.&nbsp;1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What do you want us to know? Tom Sullivan: We’ve both worked in health care for a long time and are staying in our current careers. We’ve hired a great team to manage the day-to-day, but we’re still involved as owners and plan to stay very close to the business to make sure it’s a success. I’ve been in health care administration for about 31 years, and in our service area we saw a clear need for a professional, insured moving company. The market was ready.Frank Sullivan:&nbsp;My background is also in health care, more specifically in sales. That experience taught me how important customer service is. That’s something we’re focused on bringing to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK — building a customer-centric culture and a team that’s united around that goal.1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you? Frank: We live in a rural area, and I’ve always wanted to create opportunities for our families and our community. When we came across TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and started doing our research, it became clear that their mission aligned with ours. They want to build something meaningful — and so do we.Tom:&nbsp;Owning your own business is part of the American Dream. We wanted to bring value to our own lives, but also to our customers and the broader community. We’re from Albany, and it’s always been a dream of mine to help invest back into the area and create jobs for people here.1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company? Frank: What really sold us was the family-oriented focus of the brand. That’s at the core of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s story — and as two brothers going into business together, it felt like the perfect fit.Tom: We joke it should be called TWO BROTHERS AND A TRUCK in our case! The brand is also incredibly well-ranked in the franchise world. They’re consistently in the top 50 across all concepts — and that’s a reflection of how well-run the company is from top to bottom.1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?Tom:&nbsp;We’re planning a ribbon-cutting with the local chamber soon, and we’re excited about the long-term potential here. There’s a real opportunity for growth and job creation.We look forward to serving the communities of Valdosta, Albany, Tifton, Moultrie, and Thomasville for years to come.Frank:&nbsp;The community response has already been overwhelming — we’re getting inquiries and calls before we’ve even officially opened. Long term, we want to open a second dispatch office to expand our reach. We’re also exploring other franchise opportunities within the broader ServiceMaster system.1851: Is there anything else about your story you want us to know?Frank:&nbsp;We’re a very close-knit family, so getting to spend more time together and build something together — personally and professionally — is really special.Tom:&nbsp;We both grew up here, and our reputation means everything to us. The foundation you build at the start really matters.Frank: Be prepared to learn. The logistics side has been a big learning curve for me. Wallace joined the company in 1996 while in college and later moved into leadership and ownership roles. Jent began as a mover in 2012 and worked his way into operations and management before becoming a co-owner of multiple locations.Today, Wallace and Jent own locations in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky, along with additional territories in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. The Treasure Coast acquisition is their fourth market together.The location will continue offering local and long-distance moving, packing services and the sale of boxes and packing supplies. The system recorded 35 franchise transfers, 19 new franchise openings and 15 new franchise signings, welcoming eight owners or ownership groups that were new to the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand.A major highlight of the year was the brand’s annual Career Move Season, a systemwide hiring initiative held from March through May to prepare franchises for peak moving season. The goal for 2025 was to hire 6,500 team members across North America — a target the brand exceeded with 7,006 hires from more than 259,000 applicants.While many roles filled were movers and drivers, franchises also added customer service representatives, marketers, office managers and bookkeepers. The initiative reflects the brand’s long-standing commitment to career development, with one in three franchisees having started as frontline employees and more than 75% of managers promoted from within.“Providing opportunities has always been part of our DNA,” Shacka said. “Our goal is that people come to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and grow — whether that means building a long-term career here or leaving better prepared for whatever comes next.”June once again proved to be the busiest month of the year, culminating in the brand’s Busiest Move Weekend from June 27-29.
