Twitter is focused on making its new Lite app available to a wider demographic. According to a recent article in VentureBeat, the social network is hoping the spread of the Android app will help it grow its user count.
The Lite app was released back in April and is now expanding to other continents with the hope of capturing the attention of emerging markets. This version of the app takes up less storage space on a user's cell phone and is designed to load content faster than the original app.
Twitter is not the first social platform to create a streamlined and simplified app. Facebook and Shazam have taken on similar strategies by offering slimmed down versions of their own mobile apps.
