Florida Weekly: Voodoo Brewing Co. Hopes To Pour Success in Fort Myers

Franchisees Mashelle and Keith Towles are hoping their brewpub will ‘build the community bond while pouring up the spirit of Voodoo Brewing Co.

Voodoo Brewing Co. is a brewpub franchise known for its craft beers and killer food, and franchisees Mashelle and Keith Towles are hoping their newly opened brewpub will bring the downtown community of Fort Myers, Florida, together.

“We decided to create a new hangout in our hometown to help build the community bond while pouring up the spirit of Voodoo Brewing Co.,” Mashelle told Florida Weekly

The pub, which seats 140 people, is located at 2400 First St., across from the Sidney & Berne Davis Arts Center. The Towles have big plans to liven up the community with ideas like Saturday yoga classes with mocktails and fresh juices.

“We had a very successful opening weekend and hope it continues,” Mashelle said. “We asked everyone stopping in what they wanted to see and added it all to our list. We purchased games and will be bringing in live music, trivia, shuffleboard and bingo. We also have the perfect setup for speed dating and want to transmit the energy of this spot with funky tarot card readings and pet psychics.”

The brewpub has eight flagship beers, as well as 40 seasonal varieties, with each beer sign painted by a neighboring tattoo artist at Articulture Studio Z. The assortment of taps, known as “liquid gold,” includes beach blonde ales, hazy brews, puckering sours and hoppy IPAs.

“I really enjoy Good Vibes and Hazy Afternoon,” Keith said. “Each beer name comes from either a song or movie. Some of our keg-based tables even have a QR code on them that plays the clips when you scan them.”

The franchise enlisted liquor guru and mixologist Pete Gaeth to create staple cocktails and crafted a drink list that includes bold-flavored specialities.
