When Pope Francis visited Philadelphia during his first trip to the U.S., Philly Pretzel Factory welcomed him with a special pretzel, dubbed the Papal Knot. The special pretzel was inspired by Our Lady, Undoer of Knots.

Philly Pretzel Factory President Marty Ferrill told Franchise Times they hoped the pope himself would enjoy the treat.

“If we’re going to get any opportunity to have the pope taste one of our pretzels, that would be it,” he said.

Philly Pretzel Factory sold the Papal Knots out of a concession truck and in participating stores.

Recently, the brand served up a smash hit with its Tebow pretzels, welcoming the popular quarterback to Philadelphia.

Ferrill told Franchise Times that those were a huge hit after they were unveiled.

“Then we were flooded with people saying they wanted to buy them,” Ferrill said. “We had stores that sold a couple hundred of them." Tim Tebow was cut by the team during the preseason.
