Young Ones to Watch: Eric Gustafsson
The Famous Toastery VP or franchise development brings a lifetime of franchise experience that stretches back to high school, working at his parents’ Quizno’s franchise.
Do you remember your 15th birthday?
Eric Gustafsson remembers his.
He was unloading a truck at 5 A.M. for the grand opening of a Quizno’s franchise location. His parents were Quizno’s franchisees and also served as master developers for Maryland and Southeast Pennsylvania, where they were in charge of selling franchises, assisting with construction and design, opening new locations and overseeing operations for franchisees. He even recalls going to school daily with Quizno’s meats packed in his lunchbox.
So for Gustafsson, now the VP of franchise development at Famous Toastery — a fresh-to-order breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant franchise making a name for itself as the best breakfast in town — the franchise industry is very much a part of his roots.
1851 Franchise caught up with Gustafsson to discuss his vast experience in franchising, including being a franchise owner himself with multiple brands — and how it led him to Famous Toastery, leading the brand toward its goal of reaching 100 total locations open in the U.S.
