Yum! Brands has hired Target chairman and CEO Brian Cornell as its non-executive chairman, the company announced. <a href="https://www.qsrmagazine.com/news/yum-brands-names-target-ceo-brian-cornell-non-executive-chairman?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=yum-brands-names-target-ceo-as-chairman-2708505" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">According to an article in QSR Magazine,</a> Cornell has served on the Yum! Brands board since 2015 in conjunction with his role at Target. He also previously served as CEO of PepsiCo Americas Foods before joining Target&rsquo;s executive team.

The parent company of Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut and several other franchise brands made the move in the wake of current non-executive chairman Robert Walter&rsquo;s decision to retire from the role. Walter will remain a board member for Yum! Brands.

&ldquo;Brian&rsquo;s tremendous leadership of one of the world&rsquo;s largest and most innovative retailers has brought a unique perspective and wealth of knowledge, consumer insights and best practices to Yum! Brands,&rdquo; CEO Greg Creed said in a statement.
