Yum! Brands Names Target CEO as Chairman

Yum! Brands has hired Target chairman and CEO Brian Cornell as its non-executive chairman, the company announced. According to an article in QSR Magazine, Cornell has served on the Yum! Brands board since 2015 in conjunction with his role at Target. He also previously served as CEO of PepsiCo Americas Foods before joining Target’s executive team.

The parent company of Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut and several other franchise brands made the move in the wake of current non-executive chairman Robert Walter’s decision to retire from the role. Walter will remain a board member for Yum! Brands.

“Brian’s tremendous leadership of one of the world’s largest and most innovative retailers has brought a unique perspective and wealth of knowledge, consumer insights and best practices to Yum! Brands,” CEO Greg Creed said in a statement.
