Fast Casual: Starbucks to Create 240K Jobs

As development plans continue to expand, Starbucks has a plan for adding jobs.

Yesterday, Starbucks held its 25th annual shareholders meeting. According to a recent Fast Casual article, CEO Howard Schultz announced that creating jobs is one of the top focuses of the Seattle-based coffee chain and that it is on track to create more than 240,000 jobs throughout the world by 2021.The brand plans to open 3,400 new locations in the U.S. and 12,000 stores globally to accomplish this goal.

"As we approach our 25th year as a publicly traded company, the Starbucks brand is as relevant today as it has ever been, driven by the 330,000 people who proudly wear the green apron,” said Schultz.

Incoming new CEO Kevin Johnson will officially begin on April 3 and will oversee the brand moving forward with digital initiatives, social gifting, as well as giving back through social impact initiatives.
