With over a dozen restaurants already open in the state, Pollo Campero, the Central American chicken franchise, is once again looking to grow its footprint. This time, it is targeting the Corpus Christi market with space for five new restaurants.

“Corpus Christi is an attractive market for us because we’ve seen, time and time again, the success Pollo Campero can have in the state of Texas,” said Blas Escarcega, director of franchise development. “Texas is home to both many long-standing fans of Pollo Campero as well as new guests who are excited to try a flavor or meal they’ve never experienced before, and it’s time to bring the brand to another bustling market.”

In addition to the existing brand awareness and proven demand Texas offers, Escarcega explained that Corpus Christi is home to many industries, including aerospace, aviation and manufacturing, a large port that facilitates a substantial amount of trade and a Naval air station.

The market has demonstrated its ability to house successful businesses, and this both draws additional traffic that can benefit Pollo Campero franchisees and demonstrates an overarching business friendliness in the area.

With space for five total restaurants in the Corpus Christi area, the team is targeting the areas around Portland, Annaville, Kingsville, Alice and the Bay Area for development. Careful evaluation has shown that the market has strong real estate availability, and many sites are very reasonably priced. These specific neighborhoods offer the ideal combination of real estate availability and strong traffic and demand for a concept like Pollo Campero.

To achieve full development of the Corpus Christi market, the Pollo Campero team is looking to open about one restaurant per year for the next five years. Once he has identified qualified prospective owners, Escarcega will personally visit the market to meet with potential owners, discuss the opportunity and market in the franchisees’ own neighborhood.

“Corpus Christi holds a lot of potential for us, and I’m excited to begin connecting with passionate franchise partners who will help us grow in this new market,” said Escarcega. “Pollo Campero is on the cusp of another great season of growth, and expansion in Texas is an incredibly favorable opportunity for investors who are interested in joining the Campero family.”
