Making a Splash: Poolwerx's 2024 Franchise Predictions with CEO Andrew Kidd

As we dive into 2024, the pool service industry is riding a wave of unprecedented growth. Leading the charge is Poolwerx, a trailblazing full-service swimming pool repair, maintenance and retail franchise. Poolwerx CEO of North America, Andrew Kidd, recently spoke with 1851 Franchise to share his insightful predictions for the year ahead, reflecting on the brand's robust expansion plans and evolving market strategies.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped the pool industry landscape forever," Kidd said. "With a significant increase in home pool installations during this period, the demand for professional pool services has skyrocketed."

The pool maintenance sector, with a current market value of $7.1 billion, has witnessed remarkable growth in the past few years. 2020 saw a dramatic 533% increase in the installation of residential swimming pools over just one year, driven by a rising number of homeowners transforming their backyards into private oases post-pandemic.

Despite its growth, Kidd predicts that the sector will continue to be very underserved, with the number of homeowners purchasing pools outpacing supply. “Many mom-and-pop businesses are struggling to meet the technology and customer service expectations of contemporary consumers,” said Kidd. “Because customers need their new pools to be fixed and maintained, reliable businesses like Poolwerx are in greater demand than ever.”

This trend also aligns with a recent IBIS survey, which found that 79.7% of in-ground pool owners are DIY — not out of choice, but out of necessity. Poolwerx, with its unique “hub and spoke” model combining service and retail offerings, is perfectly positioned to bridge this gap looking ahead.

“There are very few national players who can cater to all of the pool owners' needs like we can,” said Kidd. “This is one of the reasons we are most excited for our future growth in the U.S. — our model provides Franchise Partners with multiple revenue streams, ensuring resilience in various economic climates.”

Fueled by these industry trends, Kidd is bullish about Poolwerx's growth trajectory for 2024, hoping to add 30 new Franchise Partners by end-of-year. This projection follows a stellar performance in 2023, with Poolwerx adding 18 new territories and penetrating four new states. The brand's diverse Franchise Partners range from former Amazon employees to veterans, all drawn to Poolwerx's reputation and the potential for recurring revenue.

In particular, the Poolwerx team is targeting Texas, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia and the East Coast for franchise growth in 2024.

"At the end of the day, every new pool is an opportunity," Kidd said. "And at Poolwerx, we're fully equipped to cater to the entire spectrum of pool maintenance, product and service needs. That is why we predict a very bright future ahead."
