EB Sentinel News: How Two Women Hope to Revitalize the Moving Industry in New Jersey
Leveraging a scholarship to cover initial fees, a 23-year-old general manager and her business mentor are two of the newest franchise owners with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®.
23-year-old Mackenzie Kilgariff began her career at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, the largest moving company in the country, in Philadelphia as a marketing intern. She soon found a passion for the brand and its mission as the Movers Who Care®.
Kilgariff rose through the ranks, taking on roles in operational management and becoming a general manager before enrolling in TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s scholarship program. After a year of learning how the business runs, she was awarded a scholarship covering 80% of the initial franchise fee to open her own territory.
Kilgariff has partnered with her mentor, Brittany Ishman, to open New Brunswick’s first location. The pair are excited to bring the new location to a community with a bad reputation for moving companies. They hope to change that perspective.
“People are going through the most stressful times in their lives,” said Brittany Ishman, co-owner of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® New Brunswick, “Death, divorce, the pandemic, a lot of people lost their jobs or were laid-off. We want to make sure that it’s as easy as possible. Especially in New Jersey, where the moving industry hasn’t had the best reputation.”
