Since its founding in 2009, SMB Franchise Advisors* has committed to its mission of constantly providing best in class franchise consulting services for start up, emerging and established brands. That means helping companies — regardless of the industry that they’re in — become proven franchise concepts, from beginning to end. SMB’s comprehensive suite of services ensures that brands are built for success from their first franchisee to their hundredth and beyond.

Three brands that have each found success with the help of SMB Franchise Advisors are Fitness Machine Technicians, GYMGUYZ and GolfU. While all of these concepts operate in different segments of the fitness and athletic driven industries and they’re all at different points in the franchising process, they’re all experiencing growth.

The first of these brands, Fitness Machine Technicians, is a franchise specializing in the maintenance and repair of equipment in exercise facilities and home gyms. This concept is expected to have 10 franchisees and 15 to 16 territories in seven states sold by the end of September 2018. With the help of SMB Franchise Advisors, CEO Don Powers sees the potential to grow the system to 150 to 175 units in the next five to six years.

“I went to the International Franchise Association convention and sitting right next to me was the President and CEO of SMB Franchise Advisors Steve Beagelman,” said Powers to 1851 Franchise. “I told him what I wanted to do and he said he could absolutely help me.”

Through Beagelman’s assistance — along with the help of the entire SMB Franchise Advisors team — Fitness Machine Technicians assembled a board, rebranded the company and has since sold 10 franchise agreements in just two and a half months.

The second fitness brand that’s growing alongside SMB is GYMGUYZ. Founded in 2008 by fitness specialist Josh York, GYMGUYZ is America’s first in home mobile personal training and fitness franchise company. Headquartered in Plainview, New York, the brand employs a full fleet of trucks to transport state-of-the-art fitness equipment and certified trainers to their customer’s doors. The GYMGUYZ team is known for its’ three C’s: Convenient, Customized and Creative workouts for each individual client as no two human bodies are the same.

“Josh is an extraordinary individual,” said Beagelman. “Ever since launching GYMGUYZ into franchising back in 2014, Josh and his team have seen tremendous results nationally and internationally. He had the vision in his mom and dad’s living room and he has run with it — and made it work.”

GYMGUYZ is pushing itself toward significant expansion through franchising as the brand has nearly 200 territories in 27 states across the country and two locations in Canada. Since GYMGUYZ began the franchise process in 2014, SMB Franchise Advisors has been able to assist GYMGUYZ in its rapid growth, especially as the brand recently announced more international expansion.

“They are very hands on,” said Josh York, founder and CEO of GYMGUYZ. “When trying to figure out what is the best strategic plan for our growth or structure, they are right there to help us make the best decisions. We are incredibly grateful for Steve and his team.”

Lastly, located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, GolfU is a golf instructional program for children between the ages of three and 18. Founded in 2016 by PGA Professional Brad Hare, the brand is getting into the swing of franchising with the help of SMB Franchise Advisors.

As the business started to grow annually, Hare determined that the franchise model was the best route to expand GolfU to other communities in the surrounding area. After meeting with several franchise consulting firms, Hare decided on SMB Franchise Advisors.

“I just liked his background,” said Hare to 1851 Franchise. “I liked his credibility. I liked that I’d be working with a local consulting firm rather than talking to someone remote. It felt like SMB Franchise Advisors had more of a family atmosphere, and that if I needed them they could come over and help me out immediately.”

Recently, GolfU signed its first development agreement for three units in the South New Jersey area. As the winter season approaches, Hare sees a terrific opportunity to continue expanding in cold weather regions as the indoor location features simulators, putting greens, chipping areas and sand traps.

“The fitness industry is popular and vibrant and all three of these franchises are thriving in the industry,” said Beagelman. “They all offer great business opportunities and benefit the communities in which they are located.”
