Despite the global pandemic, the International Franchising Association (IFA), predicts more than 26,000 units will open in 2021, amending an initially bleak forecast at the onset of COVID-19. As businesses shuttered, many saw this unprecedented time as an opportunity to pivot to careers in franchising. 1851 Franchise rounded up five fresh franchises that are poised to grow in the next year.

HenDough

Gladys Knight may have made chicken and waffles mainstream, but what about chicken and donuts? From husband and wife duo Paul and Sarah Klaassen comes this chicken and donut concept out of Hendersonville, North Carolina. The Klaassens decided to franchise after seeing a 10% increase in year-over-year revenue and a recent opening in Greenville, South Carolina. The Klaassen's are looking to grow by giving experienced restaurateurs and business owners the chance to franchise the comfort food concept.

810 Billiards & Bowling*

While much of the entertainment industry struck out during national lockdowns, this Myrtle Beach-based food and entertainment brand plans to expand to up to 12 locations across the country by 2024. The concept features a full-service dining-and-bar model plus a myriad of entertainment options including bowling lanes, billiard tables, an arcade, classic board games, mini-golf, and more. Now, 810 Billiards & Bowling is launching its first out-of-state franchise in Chandler, Arizona and a corporate-owned location coming soon to Phoenix.

HHO Carbon Clean Systems

HHO Carbon Clean Systems, a company that uses hydrogen carbon cleaning on engines to help them run more efficiently and reduce harmful emissions, hopes to start franchising the concept in 2021 with plans to grow to up to two locations this year. Conceived in the summer of 2020 by Jared English, an automotive technician, HHO’s proprietary technology has a proven track record of extending the life of engines and increasing fuel economy, all while being environmentally friendly.

DEA Music & Art*

During these uncertain times, many found solace in not only listening to music but learning to play instruments as well. DEA Music & Art, a music and art school founded in 2003 by Albanian immigrant and classically trained musician Magi Kapllani, recently opened franchising opportunities with unlimited territories available. What started as a means to meet a demand from local parents for high-quality music education has grown into three Staten Island locations. DEA Music & Art hopes to grow the concept by opening up to 30 East Coast franchise-owned studios in the next five years.

The Covery

Wellness and overall health are more important than ever, and there's a new recovery and wellness concept that opened its doors in Baton Rouge on March 22. It's called The Covery, and it's a unique, complementary franchise concept to boutique fitness brand REGYMEN Fitness**. Focused on wellness, recovery, and injury prevention, this new recovery concept brings together the leading methods of rejuvenation and wellness under one roof. With franchise opportunities opening in Louisiana and Alabama, The Covery hopes to bring affordable holistic athletic recovery and make waves in the fitness franchising community.
