Kelly Comeau would never have been introduced to the brand if it wasn’t for FranNet’s guidance and support.

After spending 30 years working his way up the corporate ladder at Finning Canada, Kelly Comeau suddenly found the future of his career up in the air. The company decided that they were no longer in need of his services, and he was faced with the sudden decision of what he wanted to do next.
Initially, Comeau wasn’t sure where to start. After holding a leadership position and managing other employees, he knew he didn’t want to take a position on the ground level of another organization. Not to mention, his family was settled in their home and neighborhood. So Comeau and his wife started looking for opportunities where they could be their own boss.
“We weren’t really sure what we were looking for at first. We just dove right in and started kicking around ideas based on brands that we stumbled upon in our research. But it became clear that franchising was the way to go—joining an established system would allow to us see success sooner than if we decided to go it alone,” Comeau said.
But even after narrowing down their potential business opportunities to ones within the franchising industry, the Comeaus were still uncertain of finding the right brand for them. That’s when they saw a reference to FranNet online, and they decided to give them a call.
“As soon as we found out that FranNet would allow us to review franchises that were picked out by a consultant specifically for our interests and goals, we were all in. We wrote up our profiles and got to work researching the first six brands that our consultant recommended to us,” said Comeau. “FranNet made sure we were asking the right questions and going with the opportunity that was the right choice for us. We stuck with it, and the rest is history.”
For the past 15 months, Comeau has been successfully building and growing his Dryer Vent Wizard franchise across Vancouver Island. The brand specializes in dryer fire prevention and energy savings through dryer cleaning, inspection, repair, replacement, alterations, and maintenance. Even though the business is still young, steady growth has put Comeau in a position where he can start thinking about expansion and bringing more employees on board.
“I never would have found Dryer Vent Wizard without FranNet’s guidance and support. They opened our eyes to all of the possibilities out there—before working with our consultant, we were only looking at brands we were already familiar with,” said Comeau. “FranNet ensured that we signed on to become franchisees for a brand that we could be successful with. They aren’t just grabbing ahold of an idea and hoping it works—their method is there for a reason, and I’m living proof that it works.”
