In 2019, Taco Bell has resolved to shed light on an area the company has always excelled through even more emphasis: meatless menu options. According to an article in QSR Magazine, one of Taco Bell’s seven announced New Year’s resolutions is to rededicate itself to this strength through a dedicated vegetarian menu that will be tested in select stores, as well as new featured vegetarian items.

While the brand may be best known for its Crunchwrap Supremes and Cheesy Gordita Crunches, Taco Bell is actually the only American Vegetarian Association-certified quick-service restaurant in the country. The brand says its current menu offers more than 8 million vegetarian combinations, but this year’s plan is to shed light on its lesser-known strong suit by becoming a more accessible option for vegetarians through a series of campaigns and menu additions.

“We decided to scratch the idea of New Year’s resolutions and instead make New Year’s commitments,” Julie Masino, president of Taco Bell North America, said in a statement. “From simplifying our ingredients while improving food quality, to creating more new jobs, to improving our recycling efforts, these are just some of our promises to keep doing even better and being even better, and they are promises that we know we will keep.”
