Ben and Jerry's Jumping on the No-Plastic Train

Plastic straws and spoons will be gone in 2019.

Ice cream chain Ben & Jerry’s will stop offering plastic straws and spoons by April 9, its Free Cone Day, according to a Delish report.

The company will proceed to only offer paper straws by request and is switching to wooden spoons, according to the article.

"In the short term, eliminating plastic straws and spoons is not going to save the world," Ben & Jerry's global sustainability manager Jenna Evans said, according to the article. "But it's a good start toward changing expectations. We're committed to exploring additional options to further reduce the use of disposable items."
