You won’t find five-pound hand weights or elliptical machines at this gym. Instead, as soon as clients walk into this open space, the first thing they’ll notice are ropes dangling from high ceilings and barbells with massive weight plates lining the floor. This is Hard Exercise Works (HEW), and it’s the latest exercise movement sweeping the fitness world.
The growth of high-intensity interval training inside smaller, local gyms is sweeping the nation. Most have heard of CrossFit, but HEW is challenging the model with its superior coaching and more flexible modifications to accommodate any member. Founded in 2009 by Matt Hunt and Randall Greer, HEW utilizes a fitness regime created by Navy Seals for Navy Seals. Using high intensity interval training with functional movements (movements that mimic everyday life)—such as burpees, squats, deadlifts and sit-ups—members from all walks of life are coached into achieving their personal fitness goals. Today, HEW has 16 locations throughout Florida, Georgia and North Carolina, and thanks to franchisees like Jason and Stephanie Wagner, this emerging brand is just getting started.
Prior to joining HEW’s growing system of franchisees, Jason worked as a construction project manager, serving customers on complex residential and commercial real estate projects. But fitness has long been a part of his DNA, too—Jason was previously a gymnastics coach and cheerleading coach. Stephanie is an experienced educator and administrator with a specialty in afterschool enrichment. When Jason and Stephanie decided to break into the world of franchising, they turned to a brand that was already a major part of their lives—HEW. As members, both were firm believers in the gym’s model, and they wanted to spread HEW’s life-changing fitness regime to more people than ever before.
“Both Jason and I are passionate about helping others achieve their personal objectives and about exercise,” Stephanie said. “By becoming Hard Exercise Works franchise owners, we are achieving our dream of business ownership while also helping other reach their potential.”
But despite their familiarity and passion for the brand, both Jason and Stephanie admit that they were anxious about the financing process and getting the doors to their new business open. In search of a little assistance, they turned to BoeFly.
“We were fortunate to have Hard Exercise Works introduce us to BoeFly. We received great service from our BoeFly financing expert who made getting an SBA loan easy. I would recommend BoeFly to anyone who needs business financing,” Stephanie added.
The Wagners worked with a dedicated BoeFly financing expert who stayed with them through the financing process. The Wagners received amazing service and were matched with an SBA lender that provided the capital they need to open their HEW location in Orlando, Florida.
"The BoeFly team is proud to have supported the Wagners on their franchise ownership journey. Too often we see emerging franchise brands stymied in their ability to grow because so many lenders are biased towards mature brands,” said Mike Rozman, CEO of BoeFly. “BoeFly’s Franchise Sales & Financing System directly addresses this issue by leveraging an array of lenders who are open to emerging brands. We are pleased to partner with Hard Exercise Works to support their growth strategy.”
As a young brand that’s already on the cusp of explosive growth, the support of BoeFly—and its ability to match the best, most qualified franchisee—has helped position HEW for success in the years to come.
"We’re committed to growing a great brand and to do that, we are dedicated to providing best-of-class support to our franchisees,” said Matt Hunt, CEO and Founder of Hard Exercise Works. “Our partnership with BoeFly has served our franchisees exceedingly well, from the first moment the franchisee expresses interest, right through to helping them secure their loan. I’m so pleased with the results the BoeFly team delivered for our new franchisees, Jason and Stephanie.”
