BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — At 23, entrepreneur Ohm Patel is helping lead The Brass Tap's expansion into Tennessee with a newly signed three-unit franchise agreement alongside his family members and business partners, Chan Patel, Sanjay Patel, and Shivam Patel. The agreement will bring the award-winning upscale American tavern franchise to Middle Tennessee for the first time, with locations planned for Brentwood, Murfreesboro and Franklin.
"My immediate goal is to establish our first location in Brentwood and make it a place where local residents can truly come in, relax and feel right at home," Ohm said. “Since there are currently no locations in Tennessee, it's a huge opportunity to introduce the concept to the market.”
The Brass Tap has grown to more than 50 locations nationwide, and the Tennessee agreement represents another step in that expansion. The brand continues to seek out entrepreneurs who share its commitment to creating neighborhood gathering places centered on dining and entertainment.
"My main focus is on bringing people together," Ohm said. “The ultimate goal with this project is to connect communities like Brentwood and build what feels like a big community center. I have always loved helping people in any way that I can, and I want our locations to reflect that welcoming environment.”
After graduating from Mississippi State University with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and business, Ohm chose entrepreneurship over a career in kinesiology.
"I grew up in the hospitality industry, living in hotels with my dad and watching him run businesses," Ohm said. “My family has been in the United States for over 20 years managing hotels and retail locations, so the hospitality mindset is second nature to me. One day, my dad saw an opportunity with The Brass Tap and brought it to me. We looked into it as a family, and everything clicked from there.”
Before signing the agreement, Ohm and his family visited an existing The Brass Tap location in Huntsville, Alabama, and attended Discovery Day at the brand's corporate headquarters in Tampa, Florida.
"The corporate support has been incredible," Ohm said. “I love that the brand relies on a strong suburban concept and focuses on bringing neighborhoods together with fun weekly traditions like karaoke, game nights and community events on the patio.”
The family plans to establish its first location in Brentwood before expanding into Murfreesboro and Franklin, although final site selections remain flexible as the group evaluates opportunities across the market. Each restaurant will feature The Brass Tap's signature selection of local and regional craft beers, specialty cocktails, premium wines and a chef-inspired menu, along with entertainment offerings such as live music, trivia, sports watch parties and community events.
For Ohm, the three-unit agreement is about more than introducing a new restaurant concept to Tennessee. It also honors the sacrifices his family made while establishing their businesses in the United States and creates something that can be passed down to future generations.
"This is a family legacy project," Ohm said. “My uncle Sanjay, my cousin and business partner Shivam and my dad Chan are all part of this. We scraped pennies as kids to build a life for ourselves, and now we are fortunate to be in a position to build this business together. I want to build on the foundation my family gave us and continue that legacy for future generations.”
The Tennessee agreement also highlights The Brass Tap's appeal to a new generation of entrepreneurs looking to enter the hospitality industry with the backing of an established franchise system. With its neighborhood-first approach, diverse food and beverage offerings and entertainment-driven atmosphere, the brand continues to attract franchise partners who see opportunities to build long-term businesses in growing suburban markets.
The Brass Tap is part of FSC Franchise Co., a restaurant franchise group that also includes Beef 'O' Brady's and Newk's Eatery.
"Our development strategy is built on finding the right partners in the right markets, and Ohm and his family are a perfect fit for Middle Tennessee," said Chris Elliott, CEO of FSC Franchise Co. “Every new signing is a testament to the strength of our business model and the demand for a premium bar and grill experience. We're especially excited to see a young entrepreneur like Ohm build on his family's hospitality legacy as we introduce The Brass Tap to Tennessee for the first time. We look forward to supporting the Patel family as they bring their vision to life.”
