When Justin and Amy discovered Caring Transitions, they were inspired to join a franchise dedicated to helping people navigate life’s most challenging transitions. By combining Justin’s background in corporate finance with Amy’s 20 years of experience as an educator, the Isaacson’s bring a unique blend of strategic insight and heartfelt compassion to Caring Transitions of Dublin and Westerville, Ohio. For them, this is more than a business — it’s a mission grounded in family values, empathy, and a deep commitment into making a meaningful impact in their local community.

1851 Franchise sat down with the Isaacson’s to discuss their franchising journey with Caring Transitions. Here’s what they had to say:

1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What do you want us to know?

Justin Isaacson: We came across Caring Transitions and immediately had an interest in learning more about the company and what it had to offer.  We came with personal experience in the areas where Caring Transitions supports families and that resonated with us.  Caring Transitions services can really support a Senior and their family during hard and generally stressful times.

1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?

Justin: I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and received a Master’s degree in Accounting. I’ve been in corporate finance and consulting for the past 20 years. This experience gave me a solid understanding of how businesses operate and what to look for if purchasing. I was excited for an opportunity where I could use my skills, background and education to develop my own business, but not needing to build from the ground up.

One thing that really surprised me was the level of autonomy Caring Transitions offers. I had always pictured franchising as something rigid—like McDonald’s, where even the number of pickles is dictated. Certainly, what model has worked really, really well for McDonalds! But with Caring Transitions, aside from brand guidelines and core colors, you have the freedom to shape your business in a way that best fits your local market. That kind of flexibility was unexpected and very appealing.

1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?

Justin: I thought it would be much more rigid than it is, however, Caring Transitions has shown us that franchising can actually be highly personalized and community-driven — especially when the brand allows you to tailor your services. It’s a powerful model that we found compelling that was a good fit for our personalities and strengths.

1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?

Justin: We’ve been through the loss of a loved one, and we’ve experienced the cognitive decline that comes with dementia. These experiences have given us a personal understanding of stresses and difficulties involved with the end to end process. That uniquely positions us to bring perspective and value to Caring Transitions.

1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?

Justin: We see a lot of potential in the senior services space. It’s only going to grow over the next 20 years, which, theoretically, is the only amount of time I’d like to work — maybe less.

1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming franchise owners?

Justin: Make sure you’re evaluating what fits your personality. Franchising isn’t for everyone, and it’s not passive income. But when it’s the right fit, it can be incredibly rewarding. For me, this business highlights what I do well and gives me a way to help others while building something lasting.
