Checkers continues to see incredible growth throughout the country, and is now targeting the State College, Pennsylvania-area for development. The Centre Daily Times recently spoke with Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer Jennifer Durham about Checkers and potential plans in State College.
According to the piece, Checkers is looking for franchisees to bring the brand to the area.
Said Durham to the Times, “There’s no Checkers in the market there, which presents a great opportunity to come in and own the market... It’s also a really nice convergence of the working class and Penn State populations that has proven through competition that it’s a burger loving market.”
In order to join the Checkers team, potential franchise partners would need a minimum of $250,000 in liquidity and a minimum $500,000 in net worth.
Also, according to Durham, potential franchisees are not required to commit to owning multiple restaurants, saying that prospective owners could sign to open a single location and choose to expand later.
