Chick-fil-A Opens First Restaurant In Puerto Rico
The franchise plans to open 10 to 15 more restaurants in the territory over the next five years.
Chick-fil-A has arrived in Puerto Rico.
The iconic chicken franchise announced just over a year ago that it would establish its first location in the Puerto Rican market. Last week, the franchisee-owned restaurant opened at 250 Calle A Minillas Industrial Park in Bayamón, PR.
Chick-fil-A’s first Puerto Rican store is owned and operated by Caitlin Chavez, a multi-unit franchisee and former store employee with the brand.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to open the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Puerto Rico and to contribute to the economic fabric of the island,” said Chavez in a statement released by the brand. “There are so many ways that we can show care to our Team Members, guests and the community, and I look forward to sharing a welcoming environment that mirrors what I’ve experienced in my journey as a Team Member to an operator.”
To celebrate the launch of the new store, Chick-fil-A is donating $200,000 to Banco de Alimentos Puerto Rico, a charity that fights food insecurity and provides disaster relief.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to serve the people of Puerto Rico,” said Ryan Holmes, Chick-fil-A’s director of operations, in the initial announcement press release. “Puerto Rico is known for its culture, history, and sense of community. This mirrors the Chick-fil-A commitment to investing in people and communities, and we are excited about the opportunity to grow in Puerto Rico with people who have a passion for service and hospitality.”
Chavez is Chick-fil-A’s first franchisee in Puerto Rico, but she is unlikely to be the last. The brand is aiming to develop an additional 10 to 15 new locations in the territory within the next five years.
