Chipotle Names Eight Ventures to Its Accelerator Program, Including an Ostrich Farm

Those chosen comprise the burrito brand's inaugural Chipotle Aluminaries Project.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. has named eight ventures to its first-year program, Chipotle Aluminaries Project, according to an article on Food Business News. According to the article, the project was announced in August 2018 as part of the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation” and “the program was launched to help scale food-focused start-up ventures in the areas of alternative farming, food waste and recovery, and plant and alternative products.”

In March 2019, each of the eight ventures selected will participate in a “boot camp” in Newport Beach where they will “create their plans for scale and receive coaching from industry leaders” including entrepreneurs and members of Chipotle’s c-suite, according to the article.

The eight ventures include Agvoice, a “mobile voice-interaction service designed for food and agriculture professionals to capture insights on the go"; American Ostrich Farms, “a vertically integrated producer of ostrich meat” made via more sustainable means than conventional meat production; Asarasi, a producer of “sustainable and renewable water harvested from the byproducts of maple trees”; GrubTubs, a service that collects restaurant leftovers and converts them into “sustainable animal feed”; and more, according to the article.
