According to the Dallas Morning News, Chance Steed, a Fort Worth-based Cheba Hut* franchisee, hopes to bring the “stoner culture”-themed sub shop to his hometown—but wants residents to know that the food itself is family-friendly and cannabis-free.

Steed first tried Cheba Hut while visiting a friend in Steamboat, Colorado and loved the concept so much he had to bring it home. "I was sitting there with my buddy," said Steed to the Dallas Morning News, "and I said, 'Man, I could open one of these up in Texas.’”

Along with toasted subs that come in such size options as “nug”, “pinner” and “blunt”, Cheba Hut also offers customers bold beverages thanks to a full liquor license. Steed is eyeing Fort Worth or Deep Ellum for the location of his first franchise and hopes to eventually branch out to Arlington or Denton. Other Cheba Hut franchisees are blazing through Texas with locations set to open in San Antonio and Austin.

When asked on a projected opening date, Steed, of course, told the Dallas Morning News, “I’d like to be open by 4/20/2020.”
