Moutain Xpress: Smoothie King Opens In Asheville

Franchisees Derek and LaVondria Bullard open first location, with plans to open two more.

Derek and LaVondria Bullard opened the first Smoothie King in Asheville on November 4, 2016. They had discovered the product after being on the road so often, owning their previous company that helped children and adolescents with mental health disabilities.
 
According to the Mountain Xpress, Smoothie King was founded in 1973 and has expanded to more than 800 locations, with stores in the United States and internationally. 
 
"They had Smoothie King in Charleston and Charlotte," said Derek Bullard. "I live in Charlotte and just became a fan [of the product]."
 
The Bullards hold a multi-unit deal with Smoothie King and plan to open an additional two locations in the Asheville area by 2020.
