Elements Massage Chief Wellness Officer, Eric Stephenson, Wants to Provide an Incredible Member Experience to Clients, Not Just a Great Massage

The industry veteran has drawn upon his 20 years of experience to help create programs like The Elements Way® and pioneer CBD massage services in the massage therapy franchise space.

Eric Stephenson has worked with the  Elements Massage® brand for the past several years, most recently joining as the brand’s chief wellness officer in 2018 and has 20 years as a massage therapist himself. Over the years, Stephenson has seen one of the nation’s premier massage therapy brands  grow to more than 240 locations throughout the U.S. Throughout his time with the Elements Massage brand he’s worked to help implement and innovate services that have significantly benefited the member and customer experience for the brand.

In today’s health and wellness industry, many brands want to offer clients just about everything, including massages, facials and wellness products. The Elements Massage brand, which is managed by WellBiz Brands, is unique in this space in that it exclusively offers massage therapy services, making the member experience that much more customizable, attentive and focused. As a former licensed massage therapist himself, it was this kind of hyper-focus that initially attracted Stephenson to the Elements Massage brand.

“In a world where our competitors are doing facials and selling products, this lets the Elements Massage brand stand out and create the best massage experience we possibly can,” said Stephenson. “Massage therapists can do what they love and not be distracted, and because of this they can provide not just an incredible massage, but an incredible experience.”

Stephenson has worked with the brand’s management team to help develop and implement the brand’s service path, The Elements Way® — a hallmark of the brand to this day. The Elements Way helps ensure an optimal experience for every client starting with the appointment scheduling, ensuring clients matching clients to a massage therapist who can meet their specific needs. According to Stephenson, the close communication Elements Massage therapists provide with clients sets the brand apart from its competitors.

“The massage therapists are taking the time to be more attentive and present in making clients feel so comfortable. The therapeutic relationship goes beyond touch. It's the sense of touch and empathy and the ability to be heard, and that’s what the brand is able to do with The Elements Way® initiative,” said Stephenson.

It’s clear that the member experience is something that Stephenson takes great pride in, and in his time as chief wellness officer of the Elements Massage brand, he’s aimed to enhance it by keeping the customer’s needs at the forefront of his mind. Stephenson was also instrumental in working with the brand to implement a  CBD massage experience into the brand’s regular offerings — making Elements Massage a pioneer in the use of CBD infused products within the massage and wellness space.

“I knew that introducing CBD products into the regular service offerings would be important from a brand standpoint, but at the core it’s really about what we can offer to the general public that meets the therapeutic needs the clients have interest in,” he said.

Stephenson noted that the Elements Massage brand has remained as dedicated as ever to its customers and members throughout the pandemic, and since amending its safety protocols and procedures, the brand has provided just over a half a million massages since May.

“I never envisioned a world where a massage wouldn’t be allowed,” said Stephenson. In a short period, we’ve done just about as well as we could possibly do, and it’s been a total team effort. Really, it’s been a lot of constant communication with owners and managers that’s made this shift as successful as it has been.”

In the search for new franchise owners who will help grow the Elements Massage brand, Stephenson says he looks for people who are just as purpose-driven and dedicated to the brand as he is.

“Somebody that really has the desire to have a successful business, that’s an ideal Elements Massage owner,” said Stephenson. “They’re looking at 10 different brands but sign with Elements Massage franchise system because it has a higher purpose that helps people in the community. If the owner can demonstrate that they’re aligned with that, then I think they’re ideal.”
