Since its founding in 2012, Elite Window Cleaning has set out to make window cleaning accessible for everyone. What was once seen as a luxury service in the $70 billion cleaning services market, has been made significantly more approachable by the franchise through its highly-efficient water fed pole technology, flat rate pricing and a streamlined online booking system.
“We've worked really hard to offer a fair value for people's hard earned money,” said Chris Stoness, founder and CEO at Elite Window Cleaning. “We find that in every single market we go into, we get the same responses. A lot of our clients are people that have never had their windows cleaned and we were able to fill that void.”
Both residential and commercial clients have the opportunity to work with Elite Window Cleaning and find out why the brand is seeing explosive growth around Canada.
Updating an Antiquated Market
Innovation has been a priority at Elite Window Cleaning since day one. With no significant technological updates to the window washing industry since the patent of the squeegee in 1936, Stoness knew there was opportunity for innovation.
For six years, he spent time traveling around and working for different window cleaning outlets all over Canada, and as far as Australia, to get the lay of the land in the industry and learn as much as possible about it. In 2012, the entrepreneur made the jump to start Elite Window Cleaning with a borrowed car, a bucket and a plan to take on this industry and challenge its traditions.
As Stoness examined the industry in the UK, he discovered water fed pole technology. Water fed poles are long extendable poles with a brush head. Inside the pole, a pump system dispenses purified water on demand.
In 2017, the company launched the water fed program in Canada and determined how to use it for a safe, streamlined model. The byproduct was a very high level of efficiency.
“We’re always looking for ways that we can improve or do things differently,” said Stoness. “The nature of the entire brand is based around this innovative technology used to wash the windows. And we approach everything with that same curiosity. We're just a curious group of people who want to make sure that we're able to do the best we possibly can, even if that means evolving the system as things change.”
In the past, one of the biggest barriers for clients who needed their windows cleaned was the cost. Although everyone has windows in their home, the price to clean them was out of reach for many average consumers, at upwards of over $200. Because of Elite Window Cleaning’s technology, they are able to clean the average home in about 45 minutes, which allows them to offer the customer a reduced, flat-rate price.
“We are attracting customers in a way that no one in our space does,” Stoness added. “We do flat rate pricing, which allows people to shop 24/7 through our online booking system. This is something that is very unusual in the home services space — especially for window cleaning.”
Booking As Easy As an Amazon Purchase
Another key differentiating factor at Elite Window Cleaning is its 24/7 booking system, which allows people to shop for services at their leisure. When designing the model, Stoness and his team did a lot of research on how to build a brand that combined all of the elements customers were looking for.
“We paid attention to other businesses that were winning at what they were doing and thought, ‘Is there a world where we can apply this type of structure to Elite?’” said Stoness. “We looked across the landscape at various businesses, from the customer service you receive at Chick-fil-A to the online experience of buying something from Amazon, and we realized there’s so many touchpoints and parallels.”
What the brand concluded was that many of today’s consumers are making their purchasing decisions at night between the hours of 9 p.m. and midnight. People are now doing their shopping while laying in bed, or sitting on the couch, and Elite Window Cleaning wanted booking their services to be no different.
At Elite Window Cleaning, it’s all about making window cleaning, safer and better while giving customers an exceptional experience. The brand puts an emphasis on what it calls the “PHDs,” or perfect windows, happy technicians, delighted customers and satisfaction guaranteed.
“The home is our biggest asset for most of us in this life,” said Eric Martin, Senior Vice President of Franchise Development at parent franchisor Happinest Brands. “You want it taken care of and to look beautiful from the outside. And you’re going to get that here — that’s a given. But it's that user experience that we can provide because of our system that gives us an advantage.”
Services You Can Count On
Elite Window Cleaning offers services for both residential and commercial clients. When cleaning windows, the brand ensures the cleanest water and respect for the property. A three-step filtration process ensures that windows are being washed with the purest water possible, which helps to keep windows cleaner, for longer.
Because the water fed pole system keeps cleaning technicians firmly planted on the ground, there is no need to lean ladders against your house. Technicians are also trained to use extra caution around gardens, BBQ’s and patio furniture when cleaning windows above.
Each crew is outfitted with a water-fed screen cleaning machine. The system scrubs the screens and rinses them with purified water. This helps to remove and flush out stubborn dirt and grime that a simple screen dusting leaves behind.
Additionally, technicians get into every nook and cranny and use a microfiber cloth to eliminate mold, dirt and mildew. The crew also makes sure to leave windows and tracks spotless when clients ask for extra detailed services.
Elite Window Cleaning also has siding cleaning services. By using a soft-wash pole-fed system, technicians are able to get houses shining again. The extendable poles reach up to 60 feet and all brush heads are made with custom Dupont nylon to help remove extra stubborn mildew, algae, moss and dirt.
Notably, the brand does not use pressure washers for siding cleaning. Experience from the field and external research has shown pressure washers to be a liability, in relation to both the integrity of the siding and potential water damage.
“I'm proud that the brand brings consumers an equitable way to have their home taken care of,” said Stoness. “Our prices are really fair and people really love that. But on top of that, the whole experience of hiring an Elite Window Cleaning team is curated to be an enjoyable experience. Want to build relationships with people and brighten their days.”
The total initial investment necessary to start an Elite Window Cleaning franchise ranges from $102,057 - $120,332, including a $40,000 franchise fee. For more information on franchising with Elite Window Cleaning, visit https://elitewindowcleaningfranchise.ca/.
