Europe’s Most Popular Salon Franchise Gears Up for U.S. Expansion
After more than three decades of growth across the Atlantic, Nikita Hair is taking advantage of a booming beauty industry for widespread growth throughout the U.S.
Nikita Hair, the 150-plus-unit salon franchise, has been dominating the European beauty market for nearly 40 years and is continuing to actively expand in the U.S with locations in key markets like Texas, Florida, and South Carolina. Now, as demand in the beauty industry skyrockets, Nikita Hair is preparing for widespread growth by partnering with franchise owners in markets across the U.S.
In 2022, the global beauty industry is estimated at $532 billion, up from $483 billion in 2020 and $511 billion in 2021, and that growth is projected to continue, with some estimates putting the industry at $800 billion by 2025.
The U.S. beauty market accounts for the lion’s share of that booming industry, and Nikita Hair is well-positioned to carve out an outsized share of that massive market. In 2022, Nikita Hair is partnering with franchise owners in South Carolina and Texas for new openings. By the end of the year, the brand aims to open 2 new locations.
"2022 is a major growth year for Nikita Hair, and we kicked it off by entering two new states, South Carolina and Texas,” said Andrea Lyman, Nikita Hair’s CEO. “We’ve found incredible traction in the U.S. in the few short years we’ve been here, and we’re already starting to see the brand awareness and customer loyalty Nikita Hair has enjoyed across Europe for decades, which is going to ensure that franchisees who sign on with us this year are in a rare position to take benefit from that positive brand recognition and growing demand in the market for high quality, full service hair salons.”
Much of Nikita Hair’s early success in the U.S. can be attributed to the brand’s unique positioning as an upscale but accessible beauty salon, offering high-end services to a larger customer base than traditional salons are able to reach.
“Nikita Hair offers affordable luxury,” said Alex Farina, Nikita Hair’s first Texas franchisee. “We’re not at a low price point, but we’re also not charging $100 for a haircut. We’re right in the middle of that price range. And we love that we’re joining a brand that offers in-demand services. Clients are always going to need their hair done, whether it’s a cut, style or color, and we’ll be here to serve them every step of the way.”
Inger Ellen Nicolaisen, Nikita Hair’s founder, says the brand’s rapid growth in the U.S. mirrors its decades of successful expansion throughout Europe.
“My first goal was five salons. Then it was 50. Now, we are well on our way to 500 locations, she said. “We’re offering our successful concept here in the US, and we are very happy with the results.”
As Nikita Hair gears up for even more growth across the U.S., the brand is seeking qualified franchisee candidates in a range of markets, starting with Texas, South Carolina and Florida.
