Fast Casual: Has pumpkin peaked? Fall menus embracing innovative ingredients (part 1)

Pumpkin spice may be here to stay, but other trends will dominate autumn menus.

It's no secret that pumpkin spice is a defining component of many fall menus. According to a recent article in Fast Casual, this flavor mainstay is not the only trend that will dominate autumn food options. Chefs will be embracing bold, spicy and ethnic flavors.

The article suggests that industry experts are predicting the integration of mild spices into fall dishes to be a trend this year. Menu items will also incorporate chili peppers, garlic and ginger to appeal to consumer appetites. 

Despite the popularity of these new trends, they will not take away from classic seasonal favorites.

"Pumpkin spice may have peaked, but it is not going away, it is everywhere, in everything," said NPD Group's Warren Solocheck.
